I have a 1883 m/c for William Alexander Irwin/Mary Ann Lewis, both of Cwmbran, which I will happily post to anyone interested on receipt of a stamp. It was the wrong William for me!

Just send my a pm.

Hi colinrh

What a disappointment for you!  There is a board for them on Rootschat at

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,147.0.html

Did you get it the General Records Office ?

Yes, Wendi, I had been convinced that it was right, but ...doh ...

Found subsequently that my man (identical name) was b in Bristol in 1856.

Anyroadup, someone has now contacted me about the cert so it may not be a total waste.

And, on a brighter note, turnround from Southport seems to be very good once again.

Hope you get a taker for your offer,

meantime, if you are in the UK, apply to the Local Registry Office in future, who can corroborate info you have , by telephone if there are any doubts, and will only issue the certificate if they truly believe it to be the one you are looking for.

They also should do a 5 year either way FOC search for you  ;)

Much luck

Thanks, Wendi. Yep, I'm in UK. I'm sorry about delay in responding, due to ongoing probs in connecting to rootschat through bt (as reported elsewhere on the site).
