Are these men the same person?

I am trying to decide if these men are the same person at different ages— can anyone give an opinion?
The small oval photo is in a mourning brooch taken in Cork and is almost certainly my GG grandfather Thomas Fennessy. The larger one of the couple is a glass plate and older.

Someone queried the eyebrows— what do you reckon?
So far we think the glass plate photo (of the couple) was taken between 1857 and 1860; and the brooch photo sometime between 1867 and 1875.
I think they are the same person (I really hope they are!)

I don't know, it seems to me that its just the beard that is similar. The mouth is completely different.
