Jan,

It means admitted to Clare College (not sure whether this is Oxford or Cambridge without looking), Michaelmas Term. Son of George Seale of Worcester, born Jan 14th 1859, went to School at Uppingham. Matriculated Michs 1877. Lieutenant in the Militia 1882, made Captain 1891. made Adjutant 3rd (V.B possibly 5th Brigage) Highland Light Infantry in 1895, made Major in 1903 and retired 1903. Lived at Witherington Manor. Justice of the Peace for Gloucestershire. Married 1st a daughter of Captain Longworth-Dames and secondly in 1905 a daughter of T Michelson of Pickering. Died Jan 1915 and the information is in Uppingham School Rolls and from the Army lists.
It might be worth while contacting Uppingham School to see if they have any other information of use.

Regards,

Ann
