Jane Ellis in Baglan, but where was her birthplace?
« on: Saturday 17 February 07 17:23 GMT (UK) »

I would love to find out more about Jane. any help appreciated.
Jane Ellis married  Morris John in Baglan 1864 and gave her surname as Ellis but  her fathers name as James Lewis. She was born about 1843. In the census she gives three different places of birth. Canton and Greenwich and Bayswater. Jane died in 1899 and is buried in Baglan.

Hi
Could her mother have been made a widow and remarried Jane became known as Ellis after her stepfather but when she married she entered her real fathers name.  Does it state if her father is dead on the marriage certificate?
Have you found her and her parents on  the 1851  and was she with her family in 1861?
cheers cardiff

Hi ,
I have found a possible Jane Ellis on BMD at lambeth so I have put a request to the London request census look up for an 1851  check.  I haven't found her on 1861 census. No news so far. but hoping.
Yes Jane said her father was deceased on her marriage certificate.
Thanks for helping.
