Different birth years!!

Hi Valda and everyone who has helped me with this

I recieved the birth cert of William ( son of George Lee) at the weekend. On it has George Lee as his mother, and Sarah Georgina Lee (nee Keattch) as his mother.

One think I noticed with William birth date is, he was born on the 2nd Dec 1886, and when William married Annie Tillman on the 1st Oct 1907, he is 2 months off his 21st birthday.  Am I correct in thinking, back in the early 1900s they had to have permission to marry before they were 21, plu g,grandma was expecting my grandmother then!!!

I am off to order George and Sarah marriage cert, to find out who their parents are now.

Glad you got the certificate.  A lot of our ancestors lied when they got married.  My grandmother was only 18 but said she was 21 and she was probably pregnant or my Aunt was a bit premature.  Naughty naughty

Not sure about the age requirement as my Gran was 17 when she married in 1897 and it says that she was 18 on the Cert. Registry office runaway wedding as Grandad was 31.
Mind you she also said her father was dead!! He was not of course and had 4 more children and a second wife!!
