Yes I would agree, looking at a map of the place where I live now, things look miles away bu I know they are not. :) :)

There is a railway station called Westcombe Park which in my 1888 A-Z is called West Coombe Park.  I would think this is the area of Coombe Farm.

St Alphage church was probably the only one in the area at the time.

Yes, you dont get a true sense of distance sometimes on maps.
