Initials only. Completed.
« on: Wednesday 21 February 07 07:59 GMT (UK) »
I have just discovered, by pure chance, that some patients, inmates etc are listed on some census records by their initials only.

I wondered if anyone else may be unaware of this.

Yes RBC, I have too - I spent over a month trying to obtain Workhouse records for a county in Ireland, only to discover that all 137 inmates are listed by initials. The same applies for the Asylums.  I just couldn't believe it.

For the 1861 Census only the initials of inmates in institutions needed to be returned.
