Wow, that was a quick reply after a five year break!

Yes I am related, via Amor Spoor and Harding Spoor and my beloved grandmother Rita, in fact my middle name is Amor.

I'm interested in anything anyone can share.

Hello again Ralph! We must be, in fact, closely related!! My own Father ALSO has Amor as his middle name!!! (William Amor King) born 1888 in Newcastle-on-Tyne....  I have 20 some Amor Spoors in my data base and probably half as many Harding Spoors in my tree.... PLEASE provide me with some dates of birth and/or death and I will definitely be able to help you immensely.  Once you have posted three messages, we can communicate via personal message system. This is vital in the case of living persons as Rootschat has a strict policy of not mentioning living people.  It appears to me that we are most certainly cousins of some degree....   AND, a warm welcome to Rootschat patrexjax

That sounds great thanks and yes we must be related in some way.

My great grandfather was Amor Spoor, 25/11/1869 to Jan 1952. I never met him as he died before I was born. He married my great grandmother Beatrice Ayre 21/07/1885 to 31/12/1981 and I remember seeing her many times when I was a child and a teenager.

Thanks Pat, yes I'm in good old Blighty so it's late evening here. No rush for a response as it will be circa ten hours until I see it.

And hello cousin!

I use ancestry.co.uk

I have uploaded a very full family tree that my great-aunt investigated over twenty five years ago and gave me a paper copy. I have many relatives in Florida who are also related via the spoor line.

SPOOR FAMILY
I am descended from ANDREW SPOOR B 1776, Whickham, Durham, who married JANE TURNER in England.  Their son Andrew Spoor came to Australia and married Mary Ann Delaney.
Andrew had a sister named Caroline Ecley Spoor, and a daughter named Caroline Ekerly Spoor.
When I was young, my Grandmother used to tell me that her family had some connection to a man named Sir Ekerly Bartrum, who she described as a "remittance man" (someone who was sent away from England for shaming his family), but I cannot find any Ecley or Eckerly connection to the family tree.  Has anybody researching the Spoor's of Durham, come across this name "Eckerly" or "Ecley"?
