Minnie LAWSON Murder
« on: Thursday 22 February 07 19:10 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for any information about the murder of Minnie Lawson in 1935.  I know that she was bludgeoned to death in Ogle, Northumberland.  She was my great, great Uncle's wife.

In particular, I am looking for anything that can explain why Clemont Mason was initially arrested.   ???

I really would appreciate any information I could get about this.

Hi,
You may already know about this but have you tried
http://www.a2a.org.uk/search/index.asp
If you put Minnie Lawson in the search option it comes up with the references for the coroners office in this case.
Apologies if you already knew about these but i had reason to look through some once and they had witness statements etc.. with them too which were a great help.I don't know whether that was just luck or normal procedure.Just a thought that they may help you more with regards to Clement?
Happy Hunting!

Wow  :o

Thats really helpful.... thanks  ;)

I'm never sure where to start with this.

I know that it featured in the local paper.... but there was no mention of why they thought he did it in the first place.

I had a look on TIMES ONLINE for you and found a news article relating to the case of Minnie Lawson who ran a small general store in Ogle which talks about a fire and the arrest of a man who was subsequently discharged.   If you have access to Times Online you can search on Minnie+Lawson and it comes up (The Times, Thursday, Sep 05, 1935; pg. 9; Issue 47161; col F). If you don't have access PM me and I can send you the image.

All ended up Ardwick, Manchester
