I am trying to trace one of my ancestors name william bennett born in england ormskirk lancashire 1822/1825, can trace him on the english census's 1841,1861 etc but not the 1851 ,however on the 1861 census he is shown as married to a Mary, A, bennett don't know her maiden name but it states she was born in kilkenny/kilkerry/kilkary I was wondering did he travel to ireland and did he marry mary while in ireland and live there at around the time of the 1851 census. I know this is a long shot with such little information but would be most grateful if any one has or comes across the said william and or his wife.

Hello Ray,

There is not an 1851 Census for Ireland although there's a Census Substitute ... Griffith's Valuation of Ireland which took place between 1848-64. It shows little more than the head of the household.
