Hi Philip
Interesting that you are looking at the Jackson surname
I have a couple of Jacksons popping up in my Candy line
5th ggf: Robert Candy 1712-1808 m Martha Collins - Robert was born in Semley and died Sedgehill
4th ggf: Robert Candy 1749-1813 m (2nd) Ann Harding - Resided in East Knoyle
3rd ggf: Major Thomas Candy 1804-1877 m (1st) Hannah Maria Jackson, (2nd) Carolina Boyce
Hannah's parents were George Jackson 1760-1823 and Mary Howard - the Jackson family appear to have been from Lincolnshire but George and Mary married in India but appeared to have relocated by to Reston by the time Hannah was born in 1810
Thomas Candy and Hannah Jackson married in Louth in 1831 but then she died in Bombay, India in 1834 ... I am not aware of any children
Thomas Candy remarried to Carolina Boyce in India in 1838 - they had 7 children born in India and a further 2 in England
2nd ggf: Charles Harrison Candy 1851-1925 m Ethel May Woodland
The last child of Charles and Ethel, for unknown reason is called Clive Robert Beresford, not Candy
Clive was born in Paddington in 1897 but in both 1901 and 1911 he appears on the census as a visitor to the Jackson household in Fulham
The odd thing is that as a 3 year old boy, Clive appears to be "visiting" by himself ... and it's odd that he should be "visiting" again for the 1911 census
The head of the household (in 1901) was Alfred Jackson, b1821 in Bristol, Gloucestershire and he is listed as Retired Merchant - he is married to Eliza Agar Jackson
Three of the Jackson children, Alice, Agnes and Randolph were born in Sydney NSW
Regards
Andrew
