Margaret BRODIE - Dover, 1863
« on: Saturday 24 February 07 18:39 GMT (UK) »
I am searching the relationship of Margaret Brodie, Godmother of Michael John McElligott born on may 17th, 1863 and baptised on may 31st, 1863, son of Michael McElligott and Mary (Leahy) McElligott. The birth certificat of Michael John McElligott is from the Catholic Chapel, Dover, England dated October 4th, 1863. Would greatly appreciate if someone could put abit of light into this unanwsered question.

Thanks

Alain

I couldnt see the family in 1861 - before Michael jnr's birth ... there was a John & Mary McE' in Limehouse, son Michael born 1852 - so not your chap ...

By 1871, your McElligotts had moved to Charlton (Greenwich area)

RG10/775; Folio: 39; Page: 7

There was no sign of a Margaret in 1861 or 1871 Kent ....

any idea of when/where Michael snr married - Ireland ?

No idea where they got married but it seems that there are several john's which i see on different certificates. They could be brothers, cousins etc,, The info you are giving me could be valuable if you have more details.

Thanks

Michael Snr was a gunner in the Royal Artillery in 1871, so could have been posted anywhere.

Both he and Mary were born in Ireland.
