Fitzmaurice/Considine/Duggan - Co Clare
« on: Sunday 25 February 07 23:49 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everyone

Am looking for my ancestors Martin and Ann (Considine) Fitzmaurice, I believe both born and married in Co Clare. They emigrated to Australia in 1875 with two sons, Michael and John.  Ann's parents were Denis & Ann (Duggan) Considine. Have no information on Martin's parents.

Would greatly appreciate any help.

Regards
Ashe

Hi Ashe,
welcome
Family Search has a record of a birth of Michael Fitzmaurice 1872 to this couple so it looks like they had a son too. Perhaps he died as they emigrated just a couple of years later with two daughters.
If you don't already have any birth certificates, you could send off for this one - it would give you a place of residence.
www.failteromhat.com has Considines and Fitzmaurices in Griffiths Valuation which took place 1850s. You could cross check the names for any possible matching parishes (especially to birth certificate).
If you were able then to pinpoint the family to land through Griffiths valuation, it is possible to view what happened to it through got land registry records (not too expensive) which detail subsequent owners. I have done that with wome of my ancestors.
best wishes
heywood

Hi Mary

Must have had one those moments.

Ann's mother was a Duggan.

Thanks for picking up on the mistake.
