on my nanas mmmarriage cert it says james johnson 8 kents terrace, her fathers name james johnson - fire watcher.

I thought that I'd posted another reply. :-\  Perhaps not!

Anyway, I got the information from the 1901 census forms on ancestry.com.

Next bet is probably to get Annie's birth certificate. That would confirm her mother's maiden name. That one in Gateshead that lizdb found is a definite possibility. Then we should be able to track down that marriage.

Now, some more effort on James Johnson ...
