HENDLEY Family - Surrey
« on: Wednesday 28 February 07 10:19 GMT (UK) »
I am desperate to find additional information on the following family:  William Louis Hendley married Emilie Coombs 12th June 1870,Wimbledon, Surrey.  William Louis' Father as stated on marriage cert. is William John HendleyI cannot find any information on William John Hendley, after searching many many websites.
I do have 1871 census details on William and Emilie, residing at Borough rd, Kingston on Thames, with son William louis, aged 2. I also have William and Emilie Marriage cert. and I have William Louis jnr. birth cert. That is all I can find on this elusive family.
I just cannot seen to get any further............

Is there anyone out there that might be able to help me. I would be very grateful.

On the marriage cert. it doesn't say whether he is alive or deceased.
I just presumed that he was still alive.  I cannot confirm as I have no details on him.

If it doesn't say deceased, he's alive.

Can only suggest that William Snr's surname has been mistranscribed.

Sorry I don't have access to Ancestry at home, but if no-one replies before next weekend I'll go the library and have a rummage around.

Don't want to be a spoil-sport, but that isn't necessairly so.  I have five marriage certificates where there is no statement that the father was deceased when I can prove that in fact he was.

It very much depends on whether the correct information was given to the person filling out the certificate - and whether they asked the question in the first place.

I stand corrected  :)

My ever growing collection of ancient marriage certs have always been accurate, so far, as to whether they are dead or alive.
