Yes, I think you are correct - Podington today.... Puddington gets a few hits in Google - and appears on the census years as a Parish at least till 1861. 1901 shows as Podington.

genuki is always a good site to look for place name information:

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/BDF/Podington/index.html

Podington is about 15 miles west of Eaton Socon

If you use the Hugh Wallis site at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle
you can go straight into the IGI to pick out the Ratcliffe entries in the two parishes. It makes it much easier to search for names where you know the parish.

Virtually all of Beds pre 1812 has been extracted onto the IGI, so if it's not there, it can often  mean that the marriage took place in another county. Podington is only a mile from the Northants county boundary - I would try a request on the Northants board for a look up in Northants Marriage Index for a marriage 1811 or before

What makes you think they moved to Eaton Socon?

Something here is out of kilter, or else I'm missing something.

Unless Mary was at least 10 when she was baptised in Podington in 1811 she can't have been the mother of Jane baptised in 1817 in Eaton Socon.

Did Jane marry? (Samuel Ladds?)  Do you know what happened to Mary? Have you found any of them in censuses? If Ellen was illegitimate I think I've found the family in 1851, which if correct will put paid to Poddington.

I am concerned that you might be going down the wrong track

Acky,  Interesting to note that on the Poddington PR index, with Ratcliffe (& variants) they group the name RATLEY/RATELY,  so consider the following ...

Poddington Burials

26/NOV/1810 - Joel son of Thos & Eliz Ratley, inf

28/NOV/1811 - Eliz  wife of Thos Ratley, labr

22/DEC/1811 - Mary  daughter of Thos Ratley, labr
