Annie,
Remember that I'm not actually running in any of those races (even 5 furlongs would be stretching my stamina these days), but having a modest bet on which horse I'm hoping will win - so it might be difficult for the Channel 4 cameras to pick me up in the crowd.
And less of the teasing of J.J., or I'll tell her about the time I went hunting for your family in Godmanchester (not far down the A14 from Cambridge), and somebody (nameless, but not difficult to hazard a guess if you get my drift) gave me the wrong house number to make enquiries about, photograph, etc...
I know you're both on the same land mass, but how many hundred miles journey might it have to be if you were to meet up for a drink...?
We'd better be careful now, or a Moderator will slap our wrists and tell us to concentrate more on the topic/thread heading here.

...but wouldn't it be fun if we could travel in Doctor Who's Tardis and the three of us have a drink together in The Fountain - let's say in about 1792 or so...

J.J.,
Now THAT is still amazing, nevertheless.  All we got was a light dusting a few weeks ago and I think that will be that for this so-called winter...
And Annie - ah, Vera!  What a mine of information she was in Godmanchester Church about everyone and everything local.  If only there was one of her in every pub or church one came stumbling into, looking for family clues in a strange place, this family history lark would be a piece of cake...
