Alice Margaret Younger. What next? Completed
« on: Thursday 01 March 07 10:25 GMT (UK) »
The birth of Alice is shown on the IGI as born 6th March, 1873 at Dalmeny, West Lothian.
Parents are shown as Henry Johnston Younger and Sarah Emma Lowman.
A birth for a person of that name also comes up on SP but I haven't looked at that yet.
My problem is that I can't find a marriage between Henry and Sarah, nor a death for Sarah.
I am presuming for the moment that she died, as Henry got married (again?) to Jane Edith Richardson in the third quarter of 1876 in Hendon Middlesex and Alice is shown on the 1881 census as part of the family in St Pancras.
Suggestions, please
Peter

Great. Thank you for that. Why couldn't I find it?
Modified
What do you make of the two surnames? Does it mean, perhaps, that they were not married?

Right, I've spent some money and looked at the detailed document on Scotland's People.
According to the birth registration the marriage took place in Paris so that solves that problem.
Again, thank you for your help
Peter

I've now found the birth of a Sarah Emma Lowman in St Marylebone in Q1 of 1842.
That might be her!
