slymbridge in yorkshire??
« on: Tuesday 02 March 04 23:33 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find more information about my ancestor William Hammond. According to my research, he was born in 1597 in Slymbridge Yorkshire. I have located some family history information which indicates Slymbridge Yorkshire was renamed "Slaithwaite" as the postal delivery was becoming confused as a Slymbridge also exists in Gloucestershire. So far, I cannot find any evidence to support the family reference of this name change. Any ideas??
My email address is not working sorry

Hi there, :D

This page:

http://www.slaithwaite.net/page2.html

about the history of Slaithwaite, makes no mention of the name Slymbridge,  I would suggest it seems not to have been renamed.

Kazza.
