Jane ELLIS - 3 Possible Surnames.

 Jane Ellis  is  the name on her  marriage certificate in1864 but  her father's name was James Lewis  deceased ,and  her maiden name on the birth certificate of one of her children was given as Evans. In the census she gives 3 places of birth Canton , Glamorgan. Bayswater and Greenwich. From marriage and census info she was born about 1843. I now think that maybe her name could have been Jane Lewis or Jane Evans . Any help to find her birth or in 1851 or1861 census would be appreciated. She was married to Morris Johns and lived with him and family in Baglan until her death in 1899.

Don't know if its any help, but in 1851 there was a Jane Evan, born "London" c1841 who was living in Briton Ferry. On "The Graig" which is just round the corner from Baglan.

Thanks for this. It is odd that Jane is the only London born. Also interesting that there are two Morgan names. In later census there is a Morgan visitor staying with Jane. Also Jane names two of her children James and Hannah.  So there could be possible links.  Any suggestions how I prove any links are welcome.

  I have searched on the Glam . FHS 1861 census CD. but didn't find them . By the 1871 census Jane is married to Morris Johns.
