St Michael and St Mary, Egremont
« on: Saturday 03 March 07 16:48 GMT (UK) »
According to the "visit cumbria" website the church of St Michael and St Mary in Egremont, which was built in 1881, replaced an earlier one.

Could sks know the name of the previous one and when it was built.

Many thanks for your help.

Regards

There are transcripts of records for Egremont available from 1630 so it must have been before then.  Have a look at www.genuki.com and see what they say about churches in the area.

Hi

Many thanks for this suggestion.  Apparently in literature published in 1868 it was listed as being St Marys.

Apparently in literature published in 1868 it was listed as being St Marys.

Although faint, it looks like "St Marys" at www.old-maps.co.uk
