Help please with my Fowtrells
« on: Sunday 04 March 07 13:14 GMT (UK) »
I am having really big problems finding any infomation on Mary Ann Fowtrell she was my 3x great grandmother.

She married Edward Busbridge at the parish church in the parish of Chatham 9th august 1846.
Both of them are of full age her father is recorded as John Fowtrell. His was Edward Busbridge both Laborers.
the witnesses were James Highsted and J S Whiffin. So I don't think they will help much.
they were living in the High street at the time of marriage.

I cant find her on the 1841 Census before she marrys or on the 1851 Census after she marries edwardbusbridge.

On the 1861 Census her age is given as 33years and place of birth Bobbing.

On the IGi somebody has entered her parents as John Fowtrell and Elizabeth? and her DOB as 27 JAN 1828   Bobbing, Kent, England
this could be her christening as there are no sources to back it up.
am unable to find john fowtrell in the 1841 census either.
This all the infoamtion I have on the fowtrells
Any suggestions would be fantastic.

There is a marriage for a Cecilia FOWTRELL father John (labourer)
to James HIGHSTEAD father James (labourer)
at Bobbing 20 September 1846

It looks likely that Cecilia and Mary Ann were sisters, and that the James HIGHSTEAD who was a witness at Mary's wedding was her brother-in-law or sister's father-in-law.

thanks for that on Cecilia, where did you fine that infomation? as have put it in to ancestry and not found her. glad I put the witnesses now to Mary Ann's marriage as it does look likely. Just wonder what they were mistranscribed as in the 1841 census.

Have spoken to the person on ancestral Village many times and he has found no more infomation than me on the fowtrell part of the line. More difficult for him as he is based in Australia. But thanks for that also.
Did look at the Butcherley green but there is another son Edward born september 1846 who isn't with them so I didn't totally discount it I just couldn't understand why they would be in such a different part of the country, with out their eldest son.

The 41 has a Cecelia Loutrell aged 20 and Mary ditto aged 14 born Kent, living Milton. Could easily be them if the original F was re-entered as L.
Rose (Black Country),Downs (Black Country),Wolloxall (any and all),Bark (Derbyshire),Wright (Derbyshire),Marsden (Derbyshire), Wallace (Black Country)

Thanks for all of your help. I wonder if the Elizabeth that mary and cecelia are living with is their mother. Maybe if their father died.
on the IGI her mother is down as Elizabeth. Just wondering if there is a way to prove or disprove this.
So Catherine brown couldbe Catherine fowtrell. Off to look for a marriage now.
