Sorry, Forfarian - since when have ages been given accurately on marriage certs?
I did say, "if accurate". Merely trying to point out that subtracting an age from a year of an event will produce a wrong year of birth half the time, on average, and three-quarters of the time if it's the age in the census.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
