Hi,
 I am looking for a Charles Swift born abt. 1827 in Derby Occ. later in life was a Engine fitter.

Probably worth visiting http://www.wirksworth.org.uk, there are several Charles Swifts in Matlock area, one of whom is an engineman at a leadmine by 1861.  Age not right but may be  connected? Happy searching  ;) Jan
