Good lord Joe, thats amazing! Thankyou so much.!!! ;D
That was a nice suprise!

Charles'occupation in 190 is listed as "master of the c n clutha"
Do you know anything about that? Sounds like a ship master or something...a strange thing on a census!

Also, the 1881 census says Charles was born Campelltown. He married 1880 to Catherine in Befast, so maybe it originally was his idea to bring Castherine and all her family to Scotland. Himmm. Time to ponder :)

Cheers for the info Joe. Huge help theres loads of kids here I didnt know existed!

Matt :)

HI Matthew,

Look at the link, http://www.rootschat.com/links/01v5/

it is the Govan story and tells about the Clyde Navigation ferries called Clutha's or penny Steamers.

Coluld the c n clutha be Clyde Navigation Clutha?

Hi there, new member here.

I'm descended from this line, my great-grandmother is Catherine McMillan, daughter of Bernard Owens and Eliza Fox.

She is the sister to Mary Ann, the great-grandmother of fellow poster Matt R.  I would dearly love to be able to be in contact with Matt R.

I think as a new member I have to make a minimum of 3 posts before I can send a PM to Matt R?  So I hope you will forgive me for making post #2 here and in the hopes that Matt R might see.

Matt R, if you do see, please contact me.

Many thanks.
