Sorry I dont have access to 1901 census..but you can look it up on Scotlands people..it costs but you can see the original image.

As for John Devaney...do you have any more details about him?...eg where he was born..any other names that might be in his household..occupation? This makes it easier to find him and to rule out wrong entries.  Had a quick look for one that age in Greenock but couldnt see one.

Hi Susan, afraid not, all I have that he was the son of james and Agnes Devaney, it might be that to find him it may be at a young age with his family, he married into a very strong Irish family in Scotland, he may have been born there, other than that, I cant be sure, sorry.

Hi Matthew,  I was spending my hard earned cash ( oops that should be hubbys hard earned lol) on Scotlands People looking for my Elizabeth Owens marriage and came across yours lol. Just wondered if you had all details, If not will be glad to pass them on.  Also I have access to the census 1841 - 1901 Scotland on Ancestry would be glad to help.

Hi Maz, chers for the offer, appreciated! I have Elizabeth's death certificate, but not her marriages. She first married James Rice, then James Carey. I dont know where they married, probably either Glasgow (possibly Anderston), or Holytown (Lanarkshire in general).
Elizabeth and James Rice married before 1901, as I have the family on the census there. Thanks for helping me with my research,

Hi Matthew, Found on free pages, Bernard Owens, regt. Downpatrick : husband of Eliz Fox, father of Peter, b. 25 Nov 1869.
Dont know if you have this info.
