Thanks Coline  :) I would imagine the informant to her death was the son of John, James Hall Risk, a writer like his father who shows on the stone as posted by Damnonii.

Can I find her on the census transcripts....not a whisper  :-\ I thought I just couldn't find her if she had married but her DC confirms she remained unmarried.

Hi Coline - Have a look on the Clackmannan board for the death of Anne Hall. Am looking for a connection here with my Hall's.  Talk soon.

My GGGG grandfather, William Thomson, married Margaret Mair Risk (DOB 1828) and she had a sister Marian Mair Johnstone Risk (1830) and a brother John Rankillor Watson Risk (DOB 1832). I think their father was John Risk and mother Marian Johnston. They were all born in Falkirk, Stirling. I don't really know much more about them and would be interested in any information that is available.

Thanks

Penny

Sorry to barge in...I am descended from John Risk and Margaret Lapslie.  Their son John Risk (1797-1866) is my 4xgreat grandfather.  John Risk married Margaret Gentles (1802-1882).  Will look back through all these notes and see what else pertains to John Risk and Margaret Lapslie.  Would be happy to hear about any other details.

Hi MerRhosyn - John Risk and Margaret Lapslie had 6 children that I can find.

John 1797, Jean 1799, Mary 1801, James 1804, Margaret 1806, Janet 1808.

All born St Ninians. John Risk and Margaret Lapslie were married at St Ninians in 1796.

You have just renewed my interest in the "Risk"family once again, so will do more searching.

Patvp -

Yes, I have those 6 children as well.

My John Risk was baptised 2 Jan 1797 St. Ninians.  Married Margaret Gentles 16 Nov 1833 Stirlingshire.  They had seven children - John (1834-?), Isabella (1836-1881), William (1839-?), Robert (1840-?), Margaret (1842-1902), Christina (1844-?), and James (1846-?).  Found in Barony, Lanarkshire in 1851 and Glagow Barony, Lanarkshire in 1861.  Worked as a clark in a coal depot.  John died 28 Aug 1866 in Glasgow City and Margaret 9 Dec 1882 in St. Rollox.

Their daughter Isabella Risk is my 3xgreat grandmother.  She married into the Purdon family.  Sadly, I have no family records of any of these individuals.
