I've lost my Granny
« on: Sunday 11 March 07 13:08 GMT (UK) »
My grandmother Margaret Cicillia Stokes was born 1880, we believe in Ireland but do not know where. She married my Grandfather Benjamin Edwin Knight at St Giles, London 28 March 1908. We know her father was John Stokes and believe his wife was call Maria. But that is all I have. I have searched 1881, 1891, 1901 England Census without trace, they had my father Benjamin Knight 1909 - 2005 and Doris Knight 1915 - 1990

IGI lists her:
Margaret Cecilia Stokes born 30 Oct.1880 Southampton, Hampshire, England died 24 May 1945 dau. of John & Marie.
This is a submitted record so should just be used as a possibilty.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

That's why you have to be suspicious of submitted details.

Theres a margaret stokes listed on the bmd  for oct-dec 1880 in Ongar which i believe is essex, will keep looking see if i can find anything else.

theres two margarets for neath and pembroke  apr-jun 1880 too

and on the 1901census online theres a margaret stokes born 1880 Midd Chiswick Acton parish who is a dressmaker age 21
ancestry doesnt appear to have an 1880 margaret listed on the 1901 search listings???
