Family Tree Maker 2005 - Date Problem - NOW SOLVED

Hi,

Using the above program, we are trying to input a marriage date of 29 Jan 1744 - but this wonderful program insists on changing it to 29 Jan 1743/44 !

What is wrong with this date - did it not exist ??

Hi Al & Al,

Double Dates — Family Tree Maker can display double dates to account for the crossover between the Julian and Gregorian calendars. If you enter a date that falls between January 1 and March 25 for any year before 1753, a double date appears.
Double dates work as follows: you can type either Jan 1, 1493/4 or Jan 1, 1493/1494; both display as January 1, 1493/94. If you don't type in both of the years, Family Tree Maker interprets the year you typed as the second year. For example, if you type January 1, 1494, it's displayed as January 1, 1493/94.

You need to enter your preferences, see help section on dates
The Date fields in Family Tree Maker can accept any date after 1/1/100 A.D. You can enter a date almost any way you want, but Family Tree Maker automatically puts it in a standard format. To change this standard format, see How to: choose the date format and units of measure.

Had not come across this setting previously (even though we have a number of people going back to late 1600's), but all now working fine,
