Wondering if shipping records from Co Monaghan to Glasgow are available?

I have a family of McQuades who left Co Monaghan sometime between 1846 to 1850 to live in Glasgow...

Hi Ele, I also had this problem as Ireland wasn't really considered 'abroad' so no immigration records or passenger lists are available as they are for America etc.  Ships' Masters were supposed to keep a note of passengers but.......

I know Griffith's Valuations (58-60) may be a bit late if they came over between 1846 and 1850 but are these heads of households any relations to yours, which I found in Tehallan. Co Monaghan.  I found mine by looking for the father of my lot who didn't come over to Scotland, who appeared in Griffith's.  If you think one is likely, you can then try and check the parish records.  NB Tehallan is the civil parish so if you need RC records you will have to find the equivalent RC parish.  I think it's Tyholland but don't quote me.

I am unsure of family in Co Monaghan. All I know is that my Francis McQuade, wife Mary and children all went to Glasgow. Francis had parents Arthur and Margaret McQuade, unsure if they went too or stayed, they were deseased by 1862.

I have ordred a birth certificate from Glasgow for one of the sons (James McQuade) and hopefully being a Scottish certificate it will have date and place of marriage for Francis and Mary, so I can find where in Co Monaghan.

I have recemtly discovered that my family Sloey/Slowey came from Clones Co Monaghan all thanks to the Archives at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow which has great records .
As for passenger lists Im led to beleive that people were transported to Glasgow with no lists or records taken .
I know my lot came over sometime between 1845 and 1870 as my great great grandfather was born in Clones and married here in Glasgow in 1870.

 I have a James Flanigan son of ( Francis and Margaret (Daley) Flanigan ) who married a McQuade between 1860- 1880s in Monaghan .
I haven't found a name for the female McQuade yet. Supposedly they had 7 little Flanigans ( no names yet )
and then sometime between 1800 - 1903 some of the Flanigans moved to Scotland. Living in the Glasgow area . Motherwell, Scotland .

 Maybe a connection to your McQuade ?

Ireland was part of the U.K. and passenger lists weren't, and still aren't, kept for people travelling between Ireland/England/Scotland/Wales.

I have a James McQuade born 1855 Annareagh, Donagh Parish, Co. Monaghan, Ireland married a Catherine Cassidy 1854 born Glasgow, Scotland . James died 22 MAR 1922 Govan  Glasgow, Scotland
