hi,
can any clever peeps out there possibly identify this chaps reg't ???
it is not my photo, it is a friends, this is as good as i dared get the photo, (without losing any quality)

it's a great picture of the bloke but not good for his insignia, i think he's a warrant officer ( or senior NCO anyway) and the picture is taken post 1922

if you have the original can you scan it again, but just to include his collar badges ( head) and hat, as high quality as you can but don't run any sharpening filters on it

it's not easy to see, i had to make an educated guess, i'd say suffolk regiment

a new hi-res scan might prove it

as far as I know..
his name was George Newcomb his children all born In Belper, derbyshire (1912 to 1921) That is as much as i know, dont know when/if he died or married (apparently spouses surname is Barrett/Barratt)
Dont suppose thats much help really
I have messaged the person i have posted this for, hopefully we might know more tomorrow
(off to bed now, got teething baby.....lol)

Yes,

The man in the photograph is a WO1 (Regimental Sergeant Major).  Perhaps he acquired more rank after this photo, or he might even have changed regiments.  Also, his Sam Browne looks like it has some vintage too it, ie, it is a hand-me-down.

I agree, a better view of the badge would be ideal.  Though it does look like a Suffolk badge.

Sorry to have taken so long, but it has been abit difficult to get the photo,
