Joe Law Marsden - tying to find his parents

I am trying to find the parents of a Joe Law Marsden. He was born in 1866 in Halifax and lived in Brighouse/Hipperholme.

Any help would be much appreciated.

March 1866, Halifax, Vol. No: 9a;   Page 391.  Is this any help to you?

I havent yet but it looks like I may have to purchase it as can't find him with his parents anywhere.

Hello again Janet.  I don't have the 1871 Census for the area, but if you put a request on:

www.yorkshireindexers.co.uk (you have to register - but its free)

The moderators have access to lots of info and should be able to tell you if the family were in the area. I hope this helps.

I would think that George MARSDEN and wife Sarah J. are good candidates.  In 1881 they are living at 27 Mill Lane, Hipperholme cum Brighouse with a 15 yr old son "Joseph", b Elland Edge.  RG11/4395 folio 34 p19.  Sarah J. is 34 and born Brighouse.

1861 shows a 13 yr old Sarah Jane LAW b Brighouse as a child of James and Mary Ann LAW in Brighouse: RG9/3276 folio 10 p21. 

This LAW family appears to be the same one (though James has died) in which Joe Law MARSDEN is a visitor in 1871: RG10/4386 folio 67 p1.

It says visitor but possibly Grandson?
