dickenson tom henson 1885 yorks/derby?
« on: Thursday 04 March 04 11:53 GMT (UK) »
I have been trying for ages to find the family of my paternal grandfather who died when my father was 3 or 4.My dad was born and registered in chesterfield Oct 1915. His name was john liversage dickenson. His mother's name was maud fox courtnall. They lived in dronfield, near sheffield in 1915. I think I found a record of Tom Henson in 1885 -not certain it's the right one. he also had a brother called John henson dickenson-my great uncle who lived with us in kenya from pre1948 till 1963.
Can anyone help this line of enquiry? I haven't as yet been able to locate either tom or john on 1901.

Hello Jenny, Glad to see you. I thought we had found Tom Henson Dickenson's birth in Eccleshall B. in 1883 though?. Do you not think that that is he?

We still have to remember that freebmd isn't complete, so John's birth may yet to be entered.

I think this is probably what you are looking for

RG12/ 3818/ Folio 82/ Page 2 - 21 Meadow Street, Sheffield.

Not only does it contain your John Henson Dickenson, but his siblings, his widowed mother Sarah Ann and his grandmother Jane Henson – now you know how he got his middle name

Hope that has put a smile on your face

Many thanks for this - this is what i have been looking for. What was the year was the image dickenson3.jpg taken from - the one with sarah anne. I was thrilled to see the doc. It is also strange that there isn't a dad on the scene.
Thanks Chris once again.

Hi jenny br

"What was the year was the image dickenson3.jpg taken from - the one with sarah anne. I was thrilled to see the doc. It is also strange that there isn't a dad on the scene."

The image is part of the enumerators return for Sheffield in the year 1891.

Sara Anne is shown as a WIDOW.
