Hi Jenn

His mother's name is Charlotte Bennett.

Officially his father is Nicholas Palmer (SA BDM index) but the death certificate refers to him as coming from England with Charlotte therefore George Bennett.

Hi Crowboy

No sign of any deaths - but the CDs only go to 1914. You can check the fiche at libraries etc - deaths go to 1964.

There was, unfortunately, no marriage for a George John Palmer or Bennett
Here are the "plain" Georges - you can probably discount the Brisbane marriages - perhaps a name of a wife will have family connections.

George Palmer  married
Eliza Jane Molloy 9 Sep 1899 1899/002397
Ellen Farrar 26 Jun 1901 1901/002143
Margaret Ellen OMahony 10 Dec 1910 1910/000432
Isabella Hansen 27 Jun 1911 1911/002122
Frances Ruth Orithyia Smith 24 Dec 1910 1911/002974
Elizabeth Martin Raddock 13 Apr 1914 1914/002162

George Bennett married
Annie Elizabeth Wright 31 Dec 1894 1895/001403
Margaret Irwin 23 Dec 1897 1897/B019024
Ruth Rush 23 Jan 1901 1901/001686
Ada Mary Woodward 13 Aug 1902 1902/B002022
Margaret Bourke 31 Jan 1906 1906/000573

You cannot believe what the death certificate says over the evidence of the birth.

South Australia
b 1872/ 05/ 29  George John PALMER, father Nicholas, mother Charlotte MANELL
Talisker, Yan,  112/583

Qld
birth Alfred Edward PALMER 25/10/1880
father: Nicholas, mother Charlotie Anne MANNUELL
1880/000447

Nicholas PALMER, died 17/08/1888
father: John Palmer
mother: Catherine VOSPER
1888/000350

I could see no more children to Charlotte, nor a remarriage to 1914.

A death certificate is only as good as the knowledge of the informant.

cheers
Christine  :)

AHHHH _ just found out the BENNETT connection  ;D ;D

Charlotte was married to a BENNETT - I could see no marriage to Nicholas though.  She was well and truly here before George was born.

South Australian births

Alice Bennett - born 1866/04/26  Thomas BENNETT / Charlote Ann MANUELL
Portland Estate, Ade, 43/158

Arthur BENNETT - born 1870/09/12  Alberton, PtA, 87/577
Thomas Sundy BENNETT / Charlotte Ann MANNELL

Thomas Sundary BENNETT born 1868/09/24 Queenstown, Ade 67/298
Thomas Sundary BENNETT / Charlotte Ann MANNELL
