ROCHELL - Ryton

Emma Rochell, born sometime around 1826 in Ryton Shropshire, married Richard Rochell in Wolverhampton in 1845. All subsequent censuses give the same birth details for Emma.

The IGI has Emma born 1826, Ryton, daughter of Thomas Rochell.
Emma's marriage certificate has her father named as E Rochell.

What I need to know is whether there was more than one Emma Rochell born in Ryton in 1826 and who were the parents?

Could she have made a mistake on her marriage certificate. It is always a mystery to me how people didn't know their parents' names.

They seemed to put down all sorts of things on marriages, perhaps E was the middle name of Thomas, its quite an unusual surname

Hi,

Yes, I have found this census entry and think it has to be the right one. In 1851, Thomas and Mary both give their places of birth as being in Staffordshire which fits with all the other Rochells in this tree so far ( until they moved to Yorkshire that is). I think it must be my Emma and unless someone else comes up with another one, I am going to have to just go with it.
