Hi

The Rifle Brigade badge has a laurel scroll around it.  Certainly this is the case between the years 1903 - 1958.

Anne  :)

Anne

you're confusing the Rifle Brigade with the Kings Royal Rifle Corps, both had different badges in the great war period

KRRC wore a maltese cross and there's the MIC cross reference ;)

Good on ya Annie, for giving this a bash

I just thought it so unusual that it was being worn as a - how shall I say - without a ribbon that I was bewildered but it would appear that on occasion that would happen ???

Harribobs

Well, it does not take much to confuse me nowadays.  Anyhow, granted Richard's MIC shows him to have served in the KRRC.  However, I do not think that I am so confused as to not know the difference between the WW1 badges between the KRRC and the Rifle Brigade, unless I am missing something that you can show me.  ???

The reason I suggested the 'Buckinghamshire' badge was because from what I could make-out in the photograph of Richard, the crown sits close to the maltese cross as shown in my earlier post.

Whereas, the KRRC badge has a straight bar under the crown with the latin words 'celer et audax' (swift and bold)  which makes the badge look top heavy. I'm posting the KRRC badge now:

   Oh no.....

What have I started here   ;) now now calm down...

I said Richard was in the Kings as shown by his medal card.
His brother William survived the war after serving as a driver for the army service corp.
A cousin was also in the service corp whilst another served in the Queens regiment.

So...its it the KRRC or something else? Or will the regiment change the design of the cap badge ? If so I will have to wait until mum and dad come back from holiday as he has those details.

Thank you all.....to your corners and come out fighting ;D ;D

                best wishes
