Hi Chorlton,

I see Kim has been transcribing the 1841 census for many many Villages in Kent. There are so many that I dont know where to start not knowing the village names in my area of interest.

Dartford Chatham Frindsbury Chalk.

Hi June.
I can look up 1841 census on Ancestry for you,I think most of the census for the Medway towns is there.

Have a look at these Genuki sites:

Medway http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/Reg/districts/medway.html

Chatham http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/Reg/districts/chatham.html

Strood & Hoo http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/Reg/districts/strood%20and%20hoo.html

Dartford http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/Reg/districts/dartford.html

Each of them lists the villages in each area:

Frindsbury comes under Strood & Hoo
Chalk does not appear in the lists, but should come under Gravesend, which is covered by Dartford according to the above links.
However, another website quotes
Quote
Chalk fell within the Hundred of Shamwell. Its 19th century Registration District & Poor Law Union was North Aylesford.
Probate Jurisdiction was Rochester

Worth looking at the North West Kent Family History Society website: http://www.nwkfhs.org.uk/parindex.htm#index

It has a list of what appears to be, a list of all the parishes in North Kent.
Chorlton -  Ashton Under Lyne, Cheshire/Lancashire
Common - Halifax, Yorkshire & Scotland <a href="http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,198195.0.htmll">Common One Name Interests</a>
Clegg - Yorkshire
Barber - Ashton Under Lyne, Cheshire/Lancashire
Hadfield - Ashton Under Lyne, Cheshire/Lancashire
Whitley - Yorkshire

Hi Jean,

Would appreciate your lookup for one Alexander BARTLETT born abt 1780. Is he still living  I wonder on the 1841? Children John Jabus and Hetty(esther) that I know of..

Also his wife Mary born abt the same time.

If Possible - any reference to the Surname EARTHE. This name eludes me and I can find no reference to it at all although she married my Thomas BUTCHER in the late 1700's

Thanks Jean  your offer,

June
