Hi Beckey,
I had a wee look at the British Vital Records CD's but didn't find any children to a James McDonald and a Mary McLean.
I did find however, two daughters born to parents Alexander McDonald and Mary McLean in Campsie.
Margaret McDonald born 27 Jan 1834 and
Mary McDonald born 7 Jun 1835, christened 26 Jun 1835
Strangely enough, the births for Balfron stop at 1813 on these CD's - I don't know the reason why as normally they are listed right up to around 1855 but perhaps this would explain the reason for not finding James and Mary?
Not much help - sorry!
I had a look for the births of a James McDonald and a Mary McLean, thinking that as Balfron is a tiny wee place, they would be easy to find - I didn't expect 2 possibilities for both of them!!
