In 1861 Robert and Jean were living at 155, Cumberland Street, Glasgow. with three sons and two daughters at this time and Jane was born in 1862 at 9 Portugal Street Glasgow.  I did do a fairly thorough check regarding the parents but they disintegrated into thin air.  My guess, due to their 'overnight rush' from Markinch in Fife, to Glasgow was to emigrate on a ship from Glasgow to god knows where.  To move this amount of children and young James only 10months old in Glasgow was a real upheaval to say the least.
To finish, Glasgow was the main port of exit for many thousands of Scots, even with broken families and today these lost 'souls' of yester-year appear with foreign accents and say, don't I know you!!
