i am trying to find info on a family called Hookings from Devon.one o f my relatives -caroline watts b. 1897 married a reginald hookings b.1893 devon beer.they married in 1915 in cardiff he was a butcher and living in the barry area.his father is down as william john hookings and he was a fish merchant.does any of this ring any bells to anyone.

i have them in the 1901 and 1891 census thanku.hope to find someone with them in their tree.

Hi Selena

I researched a HOOKINGS family from Exeter for a friend - you will find various posts on Rootschat.

I don't think they link to yours, but I wanted to say that I found quite a few variant spellings, so if you get stuck as you work backwards, consider HAWKINGS or HAWKINS or HOOKENS etc.

thanku both for your help,i have only just come acroos this link so will have to do more investigating.i have their marriage cert and the name on there is hookings,same as on the census

Hello,
Reginald Hookings was my Grandfathers brother. Joseph Henry Hookings.
Reginald died in the First world war and his name is on the memorial in beer.
