Hi there John

Sorry to have to tell you, but -

Returns for the first 4 censuses, 1801 - 1831, have not survived, (except for statistical information) - the first full sets of use to family historians dates only from 1841. The very few returns that have survived between 1801 - 1831 were preserved locally either as drafts or as copies and are to be found among overseers papers surving among parish records.
The odd registration districts pre-1841 (mostly these were of heads of households rather than full population listings) are described in Local Census Listings 1522-1930 by Gibson & Medlycott, published by the Federation of Family History Societies (second edition).

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the info.
My question was in reply to the offer by Sylviaann listed on the 'Census Lookup Offers' as detailed below.
From the Offer I take it that there is some form of 1821 Census for Hackney.

Hi John

Sorry to tell you that there are no Veaseys in the 1821 census for Hackney, nor are there any in 1811 or in Poplar, 1821 or 1831.

I even looked under Ws in case it had been mis-read or mis-pronounced.  I'm not sure what a capital V would look like in those days.

Sorry I couldn't help

Sylviaann

Hi Sylviaann,
Thank you for the 1821 Veazey information, much appreciated. They are hiding somewhere in London and one day they will jump out.
