Having found those children this looks like them on the 1841 though head of family is recorded as Frederick(his second name) and the surname could be Lediam or Ledsam

Hi Tricia,
You have done more than enough thank you. One of my Allsops married Henry Ledsam & I realised that they were quite a 'well to do' family (anyone with 4 christian names is well to do in my book!) & was curious as to how they had  made their fortune (am still trying to make mine!). I can access the census on ancestry at the library now that you have given me the details but I was looking for Ann rather than Anna when I looked. The trouble is there's a 2 hour time limit & with lots of people to look up I tend to give up & look for someone else if I don't get anywhere quickly as there are not many oppurtunities to visit in opening hours. If I had access at home I could afford to be more patient!
Sorry the Ledsams kept you awake last night! You weren't the only one,I was really tired but couldn't sleep because I felt I'd been a little rude skulking off to bed when you were so busy looking for answers to my query!! It was difficult to knucle down to work today also & then when I finally got online again tonight I find you've got me back another generation!! Wow!
Thanks so much for everything, I'm a little embarrassed you found it all so quickly, it's a bit like on 'who wants to be a millionaire' when they ask the audience and 99% know the answer! But I'm so grateful, you've saved me so much time. You're a star!
   Good luck with your searches,
          Kay

Hi Tricia,
I hate to bother you so soon again but I have another little problem(actually I have a lot of little problems, but I shan't write a book!). I wondered if you could find John Alsop/Allsop born 1829 in Dublin in the 1901 census. He had spent all his life in Birmingham & is found lodging at 171, Bristol Road, Edgbaston in 1891 when he was listed as an artist. He was at 81 Bristol Road with his mother & sister in 1881 but they'd died by 1891 so he is likely to be a lodger or boarder I suppose.
I think he died Mch qtr 1909 in Birmingham but if this is not my man (I don't have the certificate) I suppose he might have died pre census. Equally I know he had painted scenes of the Isle of Arran so he may have been away on census night, but if you were able to cast your expert eye over the Bristol Road area & say he's not there, I shall be happy to move on.
Feel free to say no & I shall place a 'new topic' request & please don't lose any sleep over it!

Hi Kay

Dont know if you are still researching the Ledsam Family but I just thought you might like to know that Emily Agnes Ledsam was my great great grandmother. She married a Henry Sheppard and eventually settled in Ireland on the Tipperary/Offaly border. How are you connected to this family?
