Vale Point?? Wales
« on: Sunday 28 November 04 17:58 GMT (UK) »
I have an entry in the 1881 for Thomas Waterworth resident in Maker, Cornwall b. in Vale Point, Wales this is in brackets which suggests it is not legible & therefore a guess. Can someone suggest what place this might be. How is it possible to see the original enumerator sheets? Thanks for any help.
Walls, James, Waterworth, Coram, Higman, Ecroyd, Battersby, Monk, Hine, Reid, Hancock, Glanville, Hudspith, McDonald, Podesta, Wyatt, Harrison, Scantlebury, Davey, Whiting, Edmonds, Glover, Donnithorne.

This is a real shot in the dark, but if you put Vale Point into www.multimap.co.uk you get this, it's near Neath, South Wales.

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?GridE=-3.7612&GridN=51.6817&client=public&lon=-3.7612&lat=51.6817&place=Vale+of+Neath,Neath+Port+Talbot&db=freegaz&local=&type=&start=&limit=&overviewmap=&scale=100000&lang=&db=freegaz

Perhaps someone else can provide something more concrete.

It looks like the family got around a bit, the mother being born in Canada, but might be worth trying the 1871 census that covers Neath ...
Good luck
Jonathan
