Conington marriage - James LINFORD / Mary LANDER
« on: Wednesday 28 March 07 22:19 BST (UK) »
I am looking for veriification & any more details of the marriage of James Linford & Mary Lander at Connington on 8th Dec 1829. There is an IGI member submission of this marriage rather than an extract.  James & Mary Linford are living in Hartford, Hunts on the 1841 census.

It may be that Mary was daughter of James Lander & Mary Bester;  Mary was baptised at Hilton on 16/Sept/1807

Thanks John

Has Cambridgeshire marriages, including those for Connington.  Free to search, pay to view, but  for 1829 you will probably get names of witnesses.

Thanks Gallium,

So I paid my 0.08p, & found that James was from Hartford & Mary was otp. The witnesses were Edward Afford and Ann Lander.

I wonder who this Ann is ? sister to Mary ? I did find that an Ann Lander married Rands Sturgeon on 22 Sept 1833 at Conington according to the IGI.

-- but I cannot locate this pair on 1841/1851 census

Regards John

Hi John

I think he may be Joseph Sturgeon who is in Beyton Suffolk in both 1841/51 with wife Ann b Hilton Hunts. Got to him via a burial in Norton Suffolk of Joseph Rands Sturgeon age 81 on 9 Jun 1890. Norton and Beyton are only a mile apart

What do you think?

Regards

David

David , I think you are right.

I seached 1851 census for an Ann* Stur* born Cambs, should have done Hunts !

Anyway, Joseph Sturgeon b 1809 Felsham, Suffolk, appears on the IGI baptised at Felsham on 18 MAY 1809, parents listed as Joseph Sturgeon & Sarah Rands.

Thanks John
