1940's death
« on: Thursday 29 March 07 01:12 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Can anyone tell me how to find a 1940 death registration?  I have a Camillo Francesco Granelli born in East Coventry in December 1939 who had died by 1941.  Father was Camillo Francesco Granelli, mother Nettie or Jane, m.s. Easton.

Sorry obviously should be 1940.  Been in the 19th century records today and got confused.

Thank you Karen for the quick reply.  Now I assume I can order the certificate from the GRO?

Can I ask you how you found that reference?

Sure,  Ancestry UK, to which I subscribe,  has access to all the UK BMD up until about 1983 ish.  This certificate can be ordered through the GRO.

Thanks Karen.

I have never subscribed to ancestry as all my family are Irish or Scottish.  There is just the odd one like Camillo...

You do not need to be a subscriber to access the BMDs on ancestry.  They are free for all to search.  Choose the complete version.

Hi andrea,

Well I can search, but all the results have a padlock on them.  Or is Ancestry.com not the place you mean?

I use .co.uk   Don't use the main search page but go directly to the BMD index link.  Usually down the right hand side.   That should let you in.
