Question about Uniform
« on: Thursday 29 March 07 07:36 BST (UK) »
Can anyone identify this uniform please? The chap wearing it is supposed to be my grandad, William John Kent, who was born in 1896,  so presumably it is WW1. But I don't know if this is right: did they wear uniforms like this in the first war; I had no idea grandad had ever been in the war; he did have a son who I know was in the desert during WW2 so it could possibly be him. The back of the postcard says Military Photo-Studio, and there is an outlined place with a 'K' for pasting a stamp although it doesn't look as though it was ever posted.

Any help gratefully received.  :)

I'm glad you all agree. Despite the name on the back it just didn't look World War I to me--though I have to confess I'm no expert. Now to work out who it is :)

Hi

The uniform you refer to, is Khaki Drill, always called KD by the Army.
From his dress, the photo was taken after 1937 as he is wearing the 1937 pattern web belt.
