Hello Everyone - I so enjoyed Genes Connected (as it was then) when I first joined. Everything was so simple.
With all the changes I still preferred using my old tree.
When it disappeared I sent an e-mail to ask why and was just told that the new tree was now the only one available.
My subscription is due next month but I am still considering what to do....... I find the new system painfully slow......

To open 2 trees at once now is complicated but it does work.

Open your tree, ehen fully loaded press control N, this will open your tree again in a new window. at the top right hand corner is a dropdown with all the trees you can view, just click on the tree you want to view.

You now have your tree and the other persons open.

You can no longer revert back to the old style tree  :'( I find the new tree eye straining.

Can I also warn people there are quite a few on Genes just name collecting off Genes trees Please be carefull who you let see your tree.

There is also a problem of Identity Fraud. If you go to My Account Details just below where all your details are there is a box to tick to stop anyone seeing anyone in your tree that is likely to be living. It stops anyone showing that was born in the last 120 years unless there is a death date.

As well as this I always put living relatives as Living for first name and only put on year of birth.

Hope this helps

Christine

Sorry, still doesn't work for me, I can have as many GR home pages as I like open but it only opens one tree at a time.

Kerry you must have your tree on the screen in front of you when you press control and N together and a new window should open up on top of your open tree which will have your tree on it again.

So in fact you have your tree open twice. Then you can open another tree on the screen you have in front of you. Then you should still have your tree open and another tree.

I am not very good at explaining these sort of things but hope it works

Hi Christine

I follow your instructions to the letter and it still just opens up the main page of GR.  I wonder if it is because I am working in Firefox.  I will go and try it in IE.

Just a wonder??

I wonder what happens to your tree if you don't re subscribe and you don't take your tree off??

Kerry

Kerry, I have in the last few days declined to renew my subscription due to numerous gripes I have with GR - but didn't do anything about my tree so I have dozens of notifications of people trying to contact me about it.  Really annoying both for me and for them, as without-re-subscribing I have no way of contacting them even to say "I'm not here any more".  No doubt they will all think I am incredibly rude not to respond to them :(
