COMPLETED - 1881 census Lookup - Hightae/Lochmaben
« on: Saturday 31 March 07 08:56 BST (UK) »

Could some one help me with this, please.

William Richardson b. 1822 Heck - Jean Jardine b. 1830 St Mungo

They were married December 1849. They are on the 1861/1871 Lochmaben census, living at Hightae. I just can't find them. Unless they died or moved.William was a mason.

Two of there sons died March 1864 at Hightae. Would like to find their place of burial. Sometimes headstones can give one information.

Thank you

Cupcake

One possible death entry for Jane (although I can't easily see her in the 1891 census index):

1893   RICHARDSON   JEANIE    JARDINE   63   GORBALS   GLASGOW CITY/LANARK   644/12 0285

Found Jane in 1891, William may have died by this census (her DC or original census image would confirm her status):

Jane Richardson 62, head, b. Samlmangs (St Mungo?!), Dumfriesshire
Jeanie Richardson 22, french polisher, b. Lochmaben
Archd Riddell    22, boarder
Alexr McKenzie    22, boarder

Hi Monica,

Thank you so much for finding the family. Very much appreciated.

Looks as if William had died by the 1891 census.

I can now go forward with my search.

Regards

Hi again,

That is our Jane's death. She died at 14 Norfolk St. Glasgow.

Just need to find William now. At least I know he died between 1881 and 1891

Thanks again.

Hi Monica,

Finding Williams death isn't as straight forward as his wife, but hopefully will find him , soon.

Do you know if there is a cemetery in Hightae or, would it be possible their sons James 5 & Jooseph 3, who died March 1864, were buried in the old Lochmaben churchyard.

Regards
