That is precisely why I advised Shaz to get in touch with the library at Shipston as I have always found such staff very obliging .....and cheap!. She couldn't find an Email address but I am sure if she writes to them they will help her out, also she feels sure tthe marriage took place at Ilmington so best to start there instead of trawling through some twenty parishes.

Hi,
thanks for all your help. Bit the bullet & ordered the certificate - so will see what that reveals!

I realise this is a very old post however I've just joined and might be able to help. My line goes back through Robert born 1818 and I have his parents as Samuel (brn 1775) and Elizabeth (brn 1777), does this match what the records office told you? I have three siblings for Robert too Mary Ann (1813) Henry (1809) and Betty (1806).

Hi Ratinexile,
Welcome to Rootschat  ;)
Yes my line is Robert b 1818 - the christening records are too faint to read the date but he is definitely the son of Samuel & Elizabeth Purser. I am descended from Robert & Harriet's daughter Emma born 1847. Will be happy to share info.
Regards
Shaz
