Marriage look up please.

Hi,
Can anyone help me, I think I need a fresh pair of eyes for this one.
Looking for the marriage of John Robert Rockley and Elsie Pollard. All I know is that are listed as the parents on my Uncle (through marriage), Robert William Stanley Rockley's birth certificate in 1931. Elsie is listed as Rockley formerly Pollard. At that time they lived in Cleethorpes, but we believe they were originally from Nottingham. John Robert is listed on the certificate as a coal hewer. There were other children, I think there was a Robin and a Jean ? years.
I have been through the BMD year by year from 1917-1930 and for the life of me I can't find it. I was hoping to get the reference so I can send for the certificate to get their parents names which would take me back into census hunting territory.
Any help with this or other information about this family would be gratefully received.

Believe me, there were never any coal mines in Cleethorpes (or anywhere else in Lincolnshire), so if John was still hewing coal, he was probably doing it in Nottinghamshire. ;)

What address do you have?  I have a 1933 Lincs Directory on disk, which could perhaps be helpful.

Hi Geoff,
The address on the birth certificate is 9, Saxon Crescent, Cleethorpes. That bit is quite legible. I have now taken a magnifying glass to the occupation box and it looks more like coal heaver with the word lighters in brackets after it.
The couple I am looking for are definitely John Robert Rockley and Elsie (nee Pollard).
We are fairly sure John Robert was originally from Nottingham, his father was in the lace making business apparently and at one time owned a factory, but I need to find out his name from the marriage cert as looking for Rockley in Notts is trying to say the least as there were so many of them.

No luck with the Directory :(

Birth Q4 1901 Nottingham 7b 379, John Robert ROCKLEY looks like the right registration as

Death in North East Lincs, August 1997 age 96, John Robert ROCKLEY born 29 Aug 1901

Obviously, birth cert should have father's name.
